11+ Course

Camden Arts Centre

3rd - 6th April 2018

10 AM-1 PM

Our 11+ courses have an exceptional reputation for preparing pupils in Y5 and Y6 for the tough 11+ / pre-test process to come.

The first course in the yearly cycle is in the Easter holiday, 3rd - 6th April, 10am - 1pm at the Camden Arts Centre on the corner of Arkwright Road and Finchley Road.

Working with a group of up to 12 Year 5 pupils, we will introduce them to the key skills and exam techniques required to perform well in their upcoming exams and assessments. Devised and led by Victoria - who has been tutoring 11+ pupils for 12 years, with an exceptional track record - and supported by other top 11+ tutors, the course will cover comprehension technique, story-writing, consolidation of key maths topics, problem-solving skills, handling nerves, time management, non-verbal and verbal reasoning tips and an interview workshop. We will be adapting the programme to incorporate more of the CAT style questioning and skills (essential for the new Consortium entry exams) whilst still supporting the English and Maths requirements for NLCS, Highgate, Habs, UCS etc. Many boys sitting pre-tests in the Autumn Term also find our 11+ courses a useful way to brush up their skills and get focused! The week ends with 2 mock papers, after which parents are sent detailed written feedback to help strategise for the year to come.

Past participants in our courses have earned places at: St. Paul's (Girls' and Boys' Schools), Westminster, North London Collegiate, City, Habs, Highgate, UCS, Merchant Taylors, Francis Holland, South Hampstead High, Latymer Upper, Godolphin, Notting Hill and Ealing, Winchester, Eton, Wycombe Abbey and many more. Several have been offered academic scholarships.

These courses do book up quickly and with several places pre-booked already, I would encourage you to get in touch asap if you'd like your child to attend. For further details, email Max 12 students.

Cost for 4 mornings: £350

GCSE English Course

Camden Arts Centre

3rd - 6th April 2018

2-5 PM

Our GCSE English revision course will be led by Jess, a qualified and experienced teacher who taught English GCSE at Notting Hill and Ealing School before switching, recently, to full-time tuition.

The dates are: 2pm - 5pm Tuesday 3rd to Friday 6th April, at The Camden Arts Centre.

Jess is highly experienced in preparing bright students for English GCSE exams across a number of exam boards.

Many pupils tell us that English is a hard subject to revise, without clear topics or info to 'learn'. It's an important subject, which requires confidence and clarity in terms of exam technique, and a deep understanding of what the examiners are looking for.

Jess has devised a course that will be suited to pupils taking all major exam boards, focusing on the key assessment objectives. Content will include:

*Approaching Unseen Poetry

*Comparing poems

*Literature set texts including Shakespeare: How to balance answering on an extract and the text as a whole, as well as interweaving a discussion of historical context.

*Analysing extracts from fiction and non-fiction texts

*Comparing extracts

*Creative writing

*Writing to argue / persuade

The first two afternoons will be literature-focused, the second two will be language-focused. We are open to pupils attending just a pair of days if they only wish to revise one of the two elements (charged pro-rata).

There will be timed tasks, marked work and written feedback woven into the course, so that pupils will come away with clear, constructive support to help them improve their exam grades.

To book a place, please call the office or email We will put you in touch with Jess directly before the course begins to ensure she is aware of each pupil's exam board and requirements. Max 10 students.

Cost for 4 afternoons: £400
