Private Tuition

Members of Griffin and Bell Education are provided with professional educators by an agency that delivers superior service as standard. Over the years, we have come to understand the unique ways in which private tuition can support class-based learning, or provide a programme of education in its own right. We use our experience to provide an intelligent link between the needs of the student and the capabilities of the tutors we work with.

Many of the tutors we work with are qualified teachers. Two-thirds of the tutors we work with went to either Oxford or Cambridge. The rest have attended the best universities in the world, from Imperial College to Harvard and Yale. They all share a proven ability to teach effectively. We interview every new tutor rigorously and observe a trial lesson to ensure they meet our standards.

We will take as much time as is necessary to discuss your needs and to answer your questions. We are always available to talk about your progress or that of your child, whether it be on the phone, at your home, or at our offices in Hampstead or Chelsea.

TUITION IN-PERSON AND ONLINE

Tuition can take place in your home or online. The tutors we work with are highly experienced in teaching in-person and/or using Zoom, Skype, FaceTime and other applications. Using screen-sharing services and online whiteboards, it is now possible to make online lessons just as engaging and productive as in-person lessons. Online tuition enables us to support students across the globe, from ex-pat families who need to keep their children on course for the UK curriculum, to international pupils who wish to improve their English or transfer to the British and American systems.

SUBJECTS + LEVELS

The tutors we work with cover the full range of subjects and curricula, from primary education to GCSE, A-level, IB, Pre-U and degree-level, as well as a range of international syllabi. We can find an appropriate academic mentor, whether you require occasional sessions, weekly support or full home schooling.

SCHOOL ENTRANCE PREPARATION

We can recommend a large number of tutors who have helped students to prepare for entry to the top schools in the country. 7+, 8+, 10+, 11+, 13+ and 16+ are all covered, as well as pre-tests and American School entry. We can ensure that students are provided with tutors who can devise a course of learning that is relevant to the schools and the papers in question. Follow this link for more information.

RESIDENTIAL AND INTERNATIONAL TUITION, GOVERNORS AND GOVERNESSES

If you live in the UK and require substantial amounts of tuition, we can help. If you live outside of London, residential tuition is an option. If you are based abroad or your family travels frequently, it can be a challenge to ensure that your children receive an outstanding education. Griffin + Bell can assist and support, whether this means setting up periods of full home schooling or organising short or long periods of residential private tuition. We work with tutors who are willing to live or travel with you, and who can deliver a vibrant, flexible curriculum that is precisely tailored to your needs. UNIVERSITY ADMISSIONS PREPARATION AND DEGREE-LEVEL TUITION

Griffin + Bell is able to place a tutor with your son or daughter to help them with the university applications process. Medical school, drama school and many more specialist options are covered. Tuition for the SATs and further US college entrance preparation is also covered. Many tutors can also offer support to students who have already embarked on their degree, whether at undergraduate or post-graduate level.

OXBRIDGE ENTRANCE

Applying to Oxford or Cambridge can be a daunting prospect. Candidates will be pleased to know that we work with mentors who have been there, done it – and avoided the souvenir T-shirt. Tutors can provide an intensive period of preparation, building an understanding of what can be expected at interview, and helping to maximise the candidate’s frame of reference in order to give them the best possible chance of success. Reading lists can be provided, along with coaching for any entrance tests. Mock interviews can be arranged to consolidate the preparation. MENTORS

A small group of tutors with the highest levels of experience participate in our mentorship programme, designed to help students who are struggling under the weight of high stress levels, psychological difficulties, loss of direction, or who have come from abroad and need help adapting to a new language and a new culture.
